- Today was filled with frustrations…

This is how Peyton’s cage was situated when we left him in there this morning. The cage was sitting right side up with both doors locked.
This is how Peyton’s cage was situated when we came home this evening.

Yesterday we attended the wedding of Garrett Wood and Chelsee Penrose in Plymouth, IN. Lindsay has known Garrett since high school, and we attended the Purdue BCM with both of them during our years at Purdue. Lindsay was also Chelsee’s roommate during her junior year.
- For the last few weeks and months we were not as close to God as we should have been. However, we have recently experienced somewhat of a “revival” of our faith, and it has been really refreshing and encouraging. Aside from the great people we’ve met at our new church, we have been learning a lot from our daily devotional, My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers. This book has been a popular daily devotional for decades, and we thought we would give it a try.
In today’s entry, Chambers uses an interesting analogy. He talks about how Jesus lived in the synagogue as a child, essentially “dwelling in His father’s house.” He then challenges us to live our lives in a manner such that Jesus is again dwelling in His father’s house as He lives in us. It reminded us of the verses in 1 Corinthians 6 where Paul writes
Peyton has been crazy lately. He has escaped from his cage numerous times since his first escapade. It seems that no matter what we do to the cage (e.g. putting heavy objects around it or in it, wedging it into a corner, etc.) he finds a way to get out.
Today I (Mike) found out what course I’ll be TA’ing for the fall semester. It’s CHM 125, which is the general chemistry class that all freshman chem majors take. I took it in 2001, and it’s still the same professor (Dr. John Nash). I really enjoyed the course and the professor a lot when I took it, so I hope that TA’ing will be just as enjoyable.
Today was my last day of working in Dr. Cooks’ lab for the summer. My lab member, Amy Tabert, bought dozens of doughnuts for the entire group to have as a celebration. Dr. Cooks also took me out to lunch today to celebrate the summer’s work. Time for the weekend ( :
We made a quick trip to Terre Haute this weekend to get Peyton a new cage so that he can’t keep doing his Houdini impersonation. Winnie took Peyon’s little cage, and we took her mammoth cage for Peyton. It has a nice heavy metal bottom so Peyton won’t be able to flip it over, or he’ll at least hurt himself really bad in trying ( : Here’s what it looks like:

As some of you know I have been feeling like crap lately. My body has been extremely fatigued and my lymph nodes have been swollen. So, I went to PUSH (Purdue University Student Health center) to see a doctor.
He said my symptoms sounded like mono to him, so he had a blood test run. And of course it came back freaking positive! Doesn’t that suck?! Especially since school started today. The only worse situation would be if Lindsay got it from me. Right now is a very hectic time at her work and she can ill afford to be tired and weak.
