Yesterday was Anja’s birthday party. For those who don’t know, Anja is the girl who Lindsay nannies for now. She just turned one on Friday. We took her to a cookout for my research group, and everyone thought she was very well behaved. For pictures of the party, visit her parents’ blog. We met a lot of their friends on Saturday, and really liked all of them. Hopefully we can hang out with them more often.

I also forgot to post about our first trip to Khana Khazana with Paul on Thursday. He was home with Anja by himself since Lynne was on a trip to Princeton. He invited us to an Indian buffet in town, and we gave in ( : The food was not nearly as spicy as we thought it was, and it was acutally decent. We’ll probably have to go back with them sometime. I think that they LOVE Indian (originally said “Indiana” by accident) food with a passion!

We’re watching Barbershop 2…I love that movie. Every time I watch it there are a few parts where I die laughing. Here are a few of the random quotes that I find funny. You may not get all of them since they’re out of context…oh well. Here it goes:

I found out yesterday as I was leaving for the weekend that I passed cume exam numero cinco. That means I’m done with the cume exam aspect of my PhD. Basically I’m just happy not to have to get up on Saturdays anymore (e.g. next Saturday morning). I passed 5 out of 8 that I took. I missed the first one from mono. You’re required to pass 5 out of 20, so I’d say I did pretty decent. Anyway, I just wanted to thank everyone for their prayers and support for me trying to get these done ASAP.

Apparently people like the picture of me and Lindsay’s rings over the word “Love” that I posted on SXC. I got an email today telling me that it was used on the cover of a book published in Israel. The book is in Hebrew and is titled When Love Needs CPR…at least that’s what the guy told me. Maybe I should start charging people ( :

We have three dogs in our house this week. So, we’re pretty darn busy. The guest dog’s name is Simon. He’s a greyhound, and he’s much bigger than Peyton and Molly. It’s been interesting having three dogs ( : Maybe I’ll put a picture of him up soon.

So, with Lindsay changing jobs, we decided to put her on my medical insurance through Purdue. That’s fine and well since it costs about the same and is not completely terrible coverage.

I go in on March 17th (remember that date) to sign Lindsay up for insurance. I write a check for the first month’s premium, and we’re good to go. The next Saturday we get a bill in the mail for two months coverage for the period 02/02-06/04, which covers nearly a full two months of time before Lindsay was even covered. How did that happen you might ask.

Well, there was no place on the form to request an effective date for Lindsay’s coverage. So, the woman processing the claim made the logical assumption to push the effective date back to freaking January 1 of this year. How dumb is that?! It’s just ridiculous that Purdue would send me a bill like this when:

#1.) I had already paid for my coverage for Feb and March

and

#2.) I didn’t even apply until mid-March…so if something had happened to Lindsay in that time frame, you bet Purdue wouldn’t have helped out.

Anyway, they’re fixing it now. I’m still just a little frustrated!

Sunday was Mike’s sister’s 18th birthday. We traveled down to Indianapolis on Saturday to celebrate with the family. We are very proud of her and the woman she’s becoming. She has recently decided to attend Ball State, and I believe that she’s planning on studying elementary education.
