    Should've Taken Bets!!!

posted by lindsay on January 2nd, 2009

Can you guess how long it took us to make a claim on our health insurance for 2009?

Twenty-three hours and forty-three minutes.  No, I'm not kidding.

Late tonight, when Ruby had finally fallen asleep after an hour and a half straight of crying and soothing, I decided to open the kids' final Christmas gifts and put them away.  I was using my very sharp paring knife to cut one of the zip ties.  Just as I was thinking, "This isn't very wise," I stabbed myself between my thumb and pointer finger on my left hand.  Very hard.

    Goals

It's that time of year: everyone declares that this year will be the best one yet.  Everyone resolves to do at least one thing better.  There's a sense of newness:  new beginnings, new chances, new opportunities...  It's incredibly intoxicating.

    Musical Ruby

posted by lindsay on January 6th, 2009

If you know Mike and I in person, then you most likely know that we love music: all aspects of music.  It's an incredibly intricate part of our lives.  I have always wondered if our children would like music, too.

Am I the only one who has a refrigerator without an automatic ice-maker?  Probably not.

But, am I the only who does this:

    Something Wonderful

posted by lindsay on January 12th, 2009

For the past three or four days, Burke has randomly been putting himself to sleep.  I didn't want to get too excited, because even though he's technically 15 weeks old, he's really only 7 weeks old.  It could be a coincidence.  So I kept bribing people (with my big sad tired eyes) to take care of Burke for a couple of hours at a time this weekend while I caught some extra shut-eye.

Then, on top of the putting himself to sleep deal, we experienced something undeniable:

    Katrina

posted by lindsay on January 13th, 2009

Alright...I'm wondering if our household was a picture of America just a minute ago.

If you didn't watch the American Idol premiere, then this post probably won't make any sense to you.  I apologize.

Katrina (the bikini-clad contestant) sang "Vision of Love" by Mariah Carey.  I don't care what you think of Mariah Carey...the girl can SANG.  You hear me?  She got chops.

Deep Thoughts from the Church Lady

posted by lindsay on January 14th, 2009

I know, I know...I'm mixing my SNL skits.  But, seriously, I just wanted to warn you that this post may come off more like the newest SNL spoof than the latest random blog post.  :)

It's snowing today...in a lot of places.  But most relevantly, it's snowing here at my house.  My back yard is covered in a pristine layer of glistening white solid coldness.  As I was washing dishes, I stared out my window and watched the big chunky flakes fall to the ground.  And it moved me.

    Oh oh...

I fear I may be getting old.  I mean, seriously, do you wanna know what I'm doing right now?  I'm browsing the Tupperware website...and drooling.  :(  That cannot be a good sign.  But do you know how much Ruby would die for this or this?  It really is all about Mickey t
