Blog Archive - 2010 September
The tree out front is beginning to turn. A few of its leaves are a bright fire-engine red. The past couple of days have been cooler with strong breezes that flow through our open windows. The air smells so fresh and crisp.
If you add in the football and the strong urge to make a big pot of chili...
Well, it's official:
Fall is on its way!
WAHOO! :)
Ruby loves stories. She loves anything and everything that has to do with a story or which conveys a story. She loves to read. She loves to watch movies. She loves to have someone tell her a story. She loves to listen to me recount memories from her babyhood. She's a story-fiend.
It's a bullet-list today, friends. Enjoy. :)
Here are the IMPORTANT THINGS:
* The Compassion Bloggers have been in Guatemala this week. There are some great reminders of God's provision and our responsibility as His instruments. I especially love Ann's perspective.
You all know how we've been watching LOST on Netflix, right? If you're following me on Twitter, then I know that you know. And I apologize. :)
On Friday night, Mike had to stay up late to finish up a big project for Red Leaf Media. I decided to stay up and keep him company. So, of course, we watched LOST.
Yesterday, I wrote about being a leader. The challenges, the consequences...the rewards.
I have a friend who has accepted a leadership position in a women's ministry. For the next nine months, she will be helping to lead a group of women towards closer relationships with each other and closer relationships with God. Last year, I was a part of that very same leadership team. And I failed...miserably.
I left my purse (complete with phone, debit card, cash, and driver's license) in Terre Haute this past weekend. Yesterday afternoon, the kids and I met Dad at the Tilton shop to get it back.
Today is my birthday. :) Today, I turned 28 and started my twenty-ninth year of life. Last night, as we were falling asleep, I said, "I'm glad to be starting my 29th year with you." And that's really so true. I feel abundantly and exceedingly blessed.
Still, a few people chose to bless me further today.
My mom and dad sent me a card and treated Mike and I to dinner.
Friends, Autumn is here again! There are tea rings on the counter, from my morning cup o' tea. My children's little noses are tiny balls of ice in the mornings. We're sleeping bundled up in covers again, and, last night, I made our first pot of chili for the season! Hooray!
As excited as I am that fall has made its return, something else has made its return, and I can't help but cringe.
Tomorrow evening, Mike and I will head up to Chicago for the STORY Conference. We have never been to this conference before. We hadn't even heard of this conference until a couple of months ago. However, when I heard the motto ("Often times, the greatest story ever told can be the hardest to tell."), I felt certain that I needed to go.
Hey everyone! My plans to blog my way through the conference did not pan out.
