i hate vets

So, we thought Paw Prints was bad about adding extra services. We decided to move to “Vet and Pets as Friends”. Today, I took Peyton in to get two vaccines (distemper and bordatella). The vaccines cost something like $40 combined. How much did I pay? over $120 That’s the last thing I need when I’m worrying about money. Oh well. They added in heartworm tests, fecal tests, doctor fees, etc., etc. They told me they were doing these things, but I just thought they were part of the process since Lindsay and I had both told them we only wanted the two vaccines. I just really don’t like the way vet offices do business. They suck money out of people like there’s no tomorrow and it really irritates me. That’s all. Aside from that, everything is going well. I guess I just have to prioritize what I care about right now…and this is way down on the list.

Peyton returns

Here are some quick pics from this afternoon.

Return of Peyton?

We might be getting Peyton back in the near future. The man that we gave him to seems to think that Peyton is not happy with him. He has tried as hard as he can, but thinks that Peyton may prefer a different home. After some thinking about it, Lindsay and I decided that we will probably try to take him back. Peyton is actually pretty calm and well house trained. The only issues we had with him were his barking at new guests and getting in the trash. We’ll keep you posted on his potential return.

Molly picture updates

Molly’s new owners, the Anderson family, sent us two new pictures of her. One is of her with her new brother Milo and the other is just her letting her tongue hang out. Apparently she’s doing pretty well. She had a rough first night, but she’s adjusting to her new settings. She especially likes the yard to run in.

busy and good weekend

Well, the weekend is not quite over, but it sure has been busy so far! On Thursday, I left to visit my family and friends in Terre Haute. It ended up being a huge blessing, because my mom had a procedure done at the hospital. The sedation really affected her, and she was knocked out for most of Friday. ( : I was able to drive her around and let her rest up. We had lunch with several of the women from my childhood church, and it was wonderful! On Friday evening, my dad came up to Lafayette to help us start the demolition on our bathroom. The boys made a LOT of progress. I don’t have a picture of the bathroom before, because Mike deleted all of the pictures of the house from when we moved in. The biggest progress of the night was the removal of the wall between the useless closet and the bathroom. Hopefully, that will give us a lot more room in the bathroom and make way for a more efficient closet. Here is a picture of Mike standing in the doorway of the bathroom. To his left, you can see the door to the old closet. There used to be a big fat wall there! Bye bye wall!

Anyway, we still have to tear the plaster off of two walls and rip up the flooring. (That should make for a fun afternoon tomorrow!) We sure are thankful for Dad’s help, though.

On Saturday morning, we gave Peyton and Molly to new homes. Peyton is now living with a Purdue Graduate who seemed very excited about having a dog. He is a golf pro at a course in Indy, and he is allowed to take Peyton to work with him each day! Peyton will LOVE running around the golf course and meeting new people. Peyton also has two new animal siblings: SNAKES! ( : That should be VERY interesting. Molly is going to be living with two new siblings, as well. It will be interesting to hear how Molly fares with a cat. She did excellent with her new human brother! Four year old Milo was very excited about buying a new bone and some “dog candy” (dog treats) for Molly. He is also intent on teaching her how to play “Duck, Duck, Goose!” Milo’s parents are very excited about having a dog in the home once again. It was a little sad to say goodbye to our first children. I cried when we drove away from Peyton’s new home. We know that they are going to great families who will love them and give them great attention, though. We will be getting photos and updates from each of the families, so we’ll be sure to share those updates with you all!

On Saturday afternoon, we spent time visiting with the Goodwins. It was really great hang out and play with Riley. Megan shared some of her photos from their vacation to NYC, and the new Grandma Goodwin gave Baby Goodwin his/her first vacation souvenier! It’s a cute and cuddly lamb, named Winky. We’re pretty sure we’ll be changing the name to Lambie. ( : We've included a picture:

We also went to see “Talladega Nights” starring Will Ferrell. Please let me warn you that NONE of us enjoyed the movie. It was absolutely terrible. Mom and I tried to console ourselves with popcorn and Kit Kat Bites, but it didn’t work very well. After the movie, we had dinner at Fazoli’s. Mom and Dad went out to mow Linda Trogden’s yard, and Mike and I headed home.

We are truly, truly blessed with wonderful and amazing families. We are so thankful to have all of you in our lives. Thank you for spending time with us and loving on us this weekend! We love you!

Peyton and Molly

Yesterday we told our family that we’d post a picture of our two dogs, Peyton and Molly. Molly has already outgrown Peyton, even though she’s only 9 months old and Peyton’s somewhere around 18 months old. She’s not extremely huge in comparison, and she’s definitely nowhere near the size of my Mom and Dad’s dog Riley. She’s much more well behaved and calm than Peyton ever has been, which is a welcome change ( :
