one week update

Hey everyone!

Today is the one-week mark since I was admitted to the hospital. Praise God for the following:

  1. Baby G is still cooking!
  2. I am negative for the Strep-B infection. This is very good news for both baby and me!
  3. I have no signs of infection, swelling, or any other complications.
  4. Mike has been able to return to work without too much worry.
  5. The nurses and staff of Home Hospital have been absolutely amazing.

I have started having some weak, intermittent contractions. This is not “real” labor. It’s just a sign that the hormone levels released by the rupture of my amniotic sac are building up in concentrations strong enough to start labor. We’re going to try to keep Baby G in the womb for at least another week. Part of me would love to have the baby today and go home, but it’s absolutely critical for the baby to stay in the womb a little longer (in order to avoid the need for NICU.)

Truly, that’s about all that’s happening around here. Peyton is at a great kennel, so hopefully he’s not too lonely. We’re getting excited about the baby’s arrival. My church family threw an amazing baby shower on Sunday, so we are *much* more prepared to take a baby home. We have a few outfits and some bottles and all those other necessities, so I’m feeling a little better. ( :

Thank you so much for all of your prayers! We’ll keep you updated if anything changes, I promise!

We love you!

We love you!! It was great to spend time with you this weekend, and we are so glad things are going well! We can’t wait to see Baby G!

I am praying for all three

I am praying for all three of you often…I’m VERY excited for this child to be born! I’m so happy for you and know you’ll be great parents. Keep relying on each other and on the God who gives this baby life. He’ll never let you down (even in the most trying of times–like now)! I love y’all :). See ya soon!
