So we hugged over the toilet...

I've told you all that Ruby is going through a bit of a rough stage regarding her bodily eliminations, correct?  Well, just a refresher: Ruby is scared to poop on the potty, but she also hates the feeling of the poop in her nappy, so she refuses to do either.  Obviously, this ends in a very backed up and uncomfortable Ruby.

Over the Thanksgiving weekend, we visited Poppa and Nana, and Ruby went poop in her nappy a couple of times.  She got *major* praise, and she's been doing a good job going in her nappy since.  She just makes sure that she tells me right away to get a clean nappy.  Yesterday, she came to me and said, "Uh oh!  Poo poo, Mommy!"  So I said, "Let's try to put it in the potty!"

We went to the potty and she immediately *stopped* trying to go.  I distracted her with songs and books, and, when the urge came again, I encouraged her to go with it and "push out the poo poo."  She started bawling, and I could tell she was terrified.  So, what's a good mother to do?

I said, "It's okay, Ruby.  Mommy's going to give you a hug and hold you.  It's okay, just push out the poo poo."

So we hugged over the toilet until the deed was done.

After she was finished, she was great, because she was supremely fascinated by the poo poo and flushing the toilet.  I'm hoping that her excitement over seeing the poop in the toilet will give her motivation to do it again today with less fear.  We shall see...

I hope you all have a great day!  I'll be back later with more blogginess, I'm sure.  :)
