Ruby Funnies

Also, as for Ruby and I's fun game on Sunday:

Ruby has recently become obsessed with a few things: tummies, babies, goats, and Halley (our pastor's daughter.) She can say all four of those words (along with a billion others) with very clear diction. And...she spends the vast majority of her day asking to see one of those four things. :) For now, it is incredibly endearing. :)

Halley and the Goats

Oh my, friends. Mike took Ruby to the fair last week, and boy did she love it. Daily, now, she points to the front door and says, "Sigh? Waa? Hahyee? Goa?" Which means, "Can we please go outside and take a walk down to the fair? I would like to see Halley and the Goats." I'll have to video tape it in order for you to see how truly adorable this is.

When we inform Ruby that the fair is, in fact, gone for the year, she happily settles for pictures of Halley and the Goats on the photo galleries. :) She also loves to search through her baby books for "goats." So far, she has decided that goats, calves, and lambs all look the same. So, anytime she sees one of those three animals, she excitedly exclaims, "Goa! Goa! Goa!" then looks at the computer and says, "Hahyee?" :) She sure does love her Halley.

Babies

Ruby has decided that her favorite toy (other than books) is her baby doll. Interestingly enough, this doll was the doll used for Mike's Fatherhood party. (The male equivalent of my baby shower.) The boys made him carry this doll to dinner and a movie. We even practiced our post-labor pose with this doll before Ruby was born. LOL! My mom bought Burke a few gender specific onesies, and Ruby has decided that they are perfect outfits for her baby. I will take pictures soon and post them. :)

I remember this stage with Anja, as well. Many of probably don't know this, since you are new readers, but I was a nanny for almost two years to the second most beautiful and amazing little girl in my life. :) Her name is Anja. Incidentally, I got pregnant with Ruby when Anja was 14 months old. I got pregnant with Burke when Ruby was 14 months old. Obviously, everything seems very familiar to me this time around. Ruby is hitting the same sort of milestones that Anja was hitting at the same time in pregnancy.

In December, I was about 23 weeks along with Ruby, and Anja just loved everything that pertained to babies. We even bought her a little doll stroller for Christmas that she loved.

Of course, Anja is growing up, and I can't believe how much older she seems each time I see her. She did absolutely WONDERFULLY with Ruby, and it gives me a lot of hope for how Ruby will adjust to Burke. :) I'm excited to see this scene played out between Ruby and Burke:

Anyway, I have seen A LOT of Anja in Ruby recently, and it has made me extremely reminiscent. I truly loved and adored my time with Anja. I always knew how much she meant to me, but I suppose I didn't realize exactly how much of a blessing she was until I didn't have the pleasure of being with her each and every day of the week. I'm excited to be off bedrest and see her again. :)

Tummies

Lastly, Ruby is just thrilled with tummies right now. She loves to see anyone's tummy, and she proudly shows off her tummy, as well. (This is another thing that Anja did at this stage.) On Sunday, Ruby showed me her tummy and then pointed at my midline and said, "Tummy?" as clear as day. I think it's actually the word she says the best.

Anyway, since it was just Mike, Ruby, and me, I pulled up my shirt and let her see my ever-expanding midsection. She pointed to my tummy and gave it a kiss. Of course, I teared up. Now, don't get me wrong. Ruby has no idea what she was kissing. This girl will kiss anything, and I do mean anything. :) However, it meant a lot to me.

Soon enough, her kissing evolved into a much less sentimental game. She was sitting right beside me, tracing my stretch marks with her chubby little fingers. LOL! I couldn't stop giggling. I mean, seriously, how ironic. My little girl was sitting here entertaining herself by tracing the stretchmarks that SHE HAD CAUSED. I certainly found the humor in the situation. :)

Mike and I have tried (unsuccessfully) to tell Ruby that there is a baby in mommy's tummy, and the baby's name is Burke. She says, "Bouk". With a little garbly sound in the middle. Eh...she'll get it.

However, she seems to think that Daddy and Uncle Kyle are also carrying babies in their tummies. I suppose we'll have to straighten that out later. :)

I guess I could have spread these topics out overe a few days, huh? I just got on a roll and couldn't stop. However, I'm feeling extremely sentimental and reminiscent, so you might be getting a lot of posts in the next few days about Anja, Ruby, and my childhood. Should be interesting... :)

Who doesn't love a good

Who doesn't love a good sentimental and reminiscent post? I loved this one, thanks for sharing a small look back at Anja and Ruby. Very cute!

Ruby funnies from yesterday

At Kirsten's yesterday, Ruby was cracking me up! She did, in fact, show us her tummy often, and she also was very good at "teasing." She signed and said, "All done!" Kirsten would then get up to help Ruby up, and Ruby would grin and start eating again. What a sense of humor! I was reading to her, and she could identify every single object that I asked for...even the snowman! Seriously! She is such a cool kid!

Long Overdue Hello!

Hello my dear! I hope this finds you doing well today! I know I haven't left a comment in a while, but just know I still check in and pray for you often! I totally thought of you today as I ate a Pop Tart. It was quite good...Cinnamon Roll flavor. I had never had it before. Literally, right after I had finished the Pop Tart a Toaster Strudel commercial came on. Needless to say, I was by myself and laughed out loud. I don't do that often. =) Thank you for your daily updates and thoughts. I miss you, Mike, and Ruby like crazy, as does Marc. Ross moves in August 17th. We hope to visit early in September, and we'll of course stop by for a visit!

Tummies

Kolt is exactly like Ruby and hes a whole yr older than her. He is convinced that there is a baby in mommys tummy, daddys tummy and his own. Its really hard to explain to a 2 yr old that babys are ONLY in mommy's tummys. If you figure it out, let me know :)
