We are absolutely thrilled and excited to announce that:

We proudly introduce you to Burke Michael Goodwin:

Dr. Harrison was very sure of her assessment, and laughed and said that the baby gave her a *very* clear view.  LOL!  Daddy is thrilled to be adding a little boy to his family.  :)  Mommy is quite pleased, too.  Burke is already an active little boy: moving around, kicking, and flipping to let me know that he's happy in his nice big bag of amniotic fluid.  During the ultrasound today, Dr. Harrison had the probe right in the middle of my stomach.  At first, Burke's head was to my right.  All of a sudden, I felt a shift, and Burke's head was on the left.  LOL!  Dr. Harrison said, "That baby just flipped around on me!"

I had told her that I wanted to look away when she looked for the gender, so I could hear the surprise with Mike.  As she was moving the probe around, I caught a glimpse of two legs with something poking out.  I said, "OOPS!" and turned my head quickly.  Then, I was so shocked and surprised that I started laughing really hard.  Dr. Harrison started laughing and saying, "Stop laughing.  Your belly is moving, and I can't see what I need to see."  I wasn't sure if I had seen an umbilical cord or a penis, so I was very excited to come home and have Daddy read the letter.

As soon as he opened the envelope and read the note, I knew it was a boy.  Mike has wanted a boy since we found out we were pregnant with Ruby.  (As have I.)  When he read the note, he got a great big grin across his face from one ear to the next.  I knew in that moment that he had learned he was getting his son.  He looked up at me, and said, "It's a boy!"  :)

I can honestly say that the surprise at Ruby's birth was better than this by far.  It's just that, in this particular situation, we wanted to get to know this little baby as best as we could, in case he isn't with us for long.  If you're currently pregnant or going to be pregnant in the future, GO FOR THE SURPRISE!!  It's SO worth it.  :)

All in all, we are thankful for this little boy.  We are thankful for the technology and the doctor's knowledge that is allowing us to get to know this little guy better, in case this is the only time we get with him.
