A Big Day for Ruby

HUGE WARNING: THERE ARE GOING TO BE A TON OF PICTURES.
*I apologize. I will stop posting a billion tons of pictures of my daughter once the big things stop happening. I promise. Thankfully, I stuffed a bunch of the big things into one day, therefore, they'll all go into one post for you, as well. :)*

Ruby had a very big day today. She got some vaccinations first thing this morning. Then, her (not too bright) Mommy decided to take her for her first professional haircut. (Remember a few days ago when I said it's getting more difficult to get her to keep her pig tails in? Well, I didn't mention that it's also getting more difficult to actually GET the pig tails in her hair in the first place. So, what, WHAT made me think I should take her to get her hair cut professionally?? AFTER shots????? with NO MORNING NAP?????????) Seriously, though, she was a perfect daughter. She cooperated about as well as I would expect any 15 month old to cooperate, and I was really proud of her! Good job, Roo! :) Then, for lunch, I let her use a spoon for the first time. Well, actually, she decided she was going to use the spoon for the first time. She wouldn't let me feed her the applesauce. She wanted to do it herself, so I let her. And she did really, really, really good. She didn't spill any at all. Not even on her tray. (And she appears to be heavily favoring her left hand at this time.)

So, without further ado, here is my photo essay of Ruby's Big Day. (Except the photos of using the spoon will have to come later, because I didn't get them downloaded (and subsequently uploaded) today.)

Ruby at the beginning of her day:

Ruby enjoying the pass-times in the lobby of our local Cookie Cutters joint: (Side note: I think she looks like a really big girl here. It's the first picture I've seen where I don't see any "baby".)

She LOVED the slide. She was hesitant on her first ride, which is the only reason I got ANY pictures of her in the actual process of going down. After the first ride, I could only get pictures of her at the bottom, because as soon as I put her on the top, she was down again. :)

"Cool! A pink car! I can do this!"

"Ack! What is that wet cold stuff she's spraying at me?" Ruby did not like the water-spritzing at all. This was the last picture I got before I had to help restrain her for the duration of the wetting process. (Mommy did a lot of restraining today. Poor kid.) The picture is linked to a full-size version...that way you can zoom in and see her face. LOL! (In my opinion, it's totally worth it.)

The hairdresser thought this balloon would help distract Ruby, and it did...

...until she got near Ruby with the comb and scissors again. Hee hee hee!

Once she was all wet and "Little People" was turned on the television, she did alright. :) Hannah, from Cookie Cutters, is truly a saint.

"Hey! Will you stop it already?"

Mommy says, "Hey Ruby! Let's clap!" (And that actually worked for quite a while!) :)

She even let Hannah give her a little ponytail. :)

Then, we came home, and Mommy took lots and lots of pictures. First, the shot boo-boos, then I got some pretty pictures of little Miss Ruby with BANGS! :)

She wanted to show you all how she uses her arms to balance herself when she walks. :)

Then she was done being a model. So, she tried to put the cap on the camera. Yes, you might take too many pictures of your child when they actually know WHAT the lens cap is, WHERE it goes, and that, if it's ON the camera, you cannot take anymore pictures of her. LOL!

I'll add the spoon pictures tomorrow. For now, it's bedtime! :) Love you all!

UPDATE:  Here are the spoon pictures.  Apparently, Ruby was favoring her right hand at lunch.  At dinner, however, she exclusively used her left hand, and she had much better control with the left hand.  :)  I think Daddy's hoping for a left-hander.  :)

Enjoy your day!

Too Cute

Ruby is adorable!! I love your photo journals! I miss so many opportunities to take pictures of Holly :(! Thank you for sharing your day with us.

I love Rubys new bangs! She looks so adorable! I know what you mean with the camera. You also know you take to many when you call your childs name and when they turn around they automatically smile and pose. haha Thats what the boys do, just wait I bet Ruby will soon.

I think the bangs were a

I think the bangs were a good choice. Nothing like disliking a hair cut choice!! All you can do is wait for it to grow out. Of cource she looks soooo cute! Ruby did have a big day, but seems like she did just fine.

about there being a ton of pictures :-) That girl is getting cuter every day. The little plaid skirt is adorable. Looks like she did pretty well with the hair cut. She does appear to be pushing the hairdresser away in one of the pics, ha! The hair cut turned out cute.

Oh, and I can see you (and your mom, actually) in her, especially in her mouth!
