Fun Post about Ruby

lindsay's picture

Okay, first, a warning!  This post will have a lot of pictures.  :)

Now, on to the good part.  Ruby's hair has really hit a growth spurt.  It seems like it's longer each day.  With this growth spurt, however, comes some frustration.  Her bangs are starting to get in her eyes, but she *will not* leave a hair clip in her hair to save her life.  Therefore, I cannot use a clip to hold her bangs back.  In addition to that, she has taken to pulling out her pig tails.  When she does that, she breaks off some of her hair, which makes it uneven.  Not to mention, I think it hurts.  ( I imagine it must! )  I don't like that thought.  So anyway, I've been debating about giving her bangs, while letting the remainder of her hair grow out.  I'm still undecided.

Today, I decided to try a ponytail (and subsequently pig tails) with no bangs, to see what she looks like with a bare forehead.  To put it mildly, I don't think Ruby is a "no bangs" kind of girl.  LOL!  That girl has her Daddy's head, and it's big!!  Her forehead is ginormous!  LOL!  I think that bangs may be a good idea...at least for the short term.  :)  I haven't decided, and I haven't taken the plunge, but the pictures sure push me closer to the "Bangs" side of the debate.  Hee hee hee!!

On a totally different note, this kid *loves* to chew on wipes.  I mean, seriously, what is WRONG with her?  I don't think there's any way those things taste good.  However, here's a pictorial essay of Ruby's love for wipes (and picture proof of her inability to carry off the "no-bangs" look.)  :)

Ruby with a silly Pebbles ponytail.  She's still in a pretty cooperative mood, so I have not introduced the wipe at this time.

Now her patience is waning.

And now her patience is gone.

So I introduce the almighty diaper wipe, decide the ponytail is definitely stupid, and change to pig tails.  All is well in the world.

I want a picture of the pig tails *sans* wipe, so I take it away and hold it to the side of the camera.  Can you *see* the sheer excitement on her face??

The pleasant smile turns into a begging action.

And this is what happens to her face, when I don't give it back to her straight-away.  Renay, I believe that, perhaps, I am on my way to joining you in tantrum-world.  :(

*Quick side note about her "tantrum".  Do you SEE how there is a half-smile there??  I mean, seriously, she thinks she can manipulate me into giving the wipe back by crying a little bit.  But even SHE knows how ridiculous that theory is.  I mean, I refuse to give into these little power struggles.*

Oh, who am I kidding??  I want a half-smiling picture with PIG TAILS, GOSH DANG IT!  Have the stupid wipe!

And Ruby replies with this death look that clearly says, "If you ever try that again, I will throw the tantrum of my life."

But, I am super-mom.  And I DO dare to take the wipe away.  Because I still want a smiling picture without a wipe in it.   And what do you know???  She obliges!!  :)

She even cooperates long enough for me to get TWO good frames!!  :)

And chooses to leave me with this peach of a face:

So anyway, thanks for humoring me.  I thought this series of pictures was especially entertaining, but I am the mom, so I completely realize that I may be mistaken.  :)  Love you all!

What a great journey you

by Lora

What a great journey you took us on with these pix - that was fun!

Goodness, she is so freakin' adorable. I agree that the bangs look is a better one for her. Although she's cute no matter. Now I know, when I watch her on Monday, how to bribe her or calm her down. Bust out the wipes, baby!

Thank you so much for your long (yes, I think the longest in our blog history), but very sincere and meaningful comment. You're right...there are many positives to adding another child to our family a little later...and I need to look at it that way at times. Our original dream has changed into a different one for our family...but our family is the way God intended it to be right now. And I cherish our little, but awesome :-), family.

I love you very much!

it was very entertaining and I have seen that look in her eye...we may need to swap "terror" stories soon. Ya know Pchef sells a great Silicone scraper that is a dandy spankin tool, I digress-back to the hair...I love the look with pig tails, course, I'm a pigtails girl-but I agree with Amy, she's cute no matter. I'm not a fan of the web short type thingy LOL but I did LOL when I read your post and saw her expressions change-too great! Thanks for sharing;-)

We love Ruby!

Wow! What a precious little one she is. Who couldn't help but love little Ruby!

And your captions are just too funny.

I'm also impressed with all the posts. I love reading your posts...and you are obliging almost daily now! Thanks!

Can't wait to see you tonight!

Love,E

Hey Lindsay! I found your

by Mari

Hey Lindsay! I found your blog! Man what a world opens up when you click on the links everywhere on other peoples' blogs! Ruby is soooo adorable. And Holly does the babywipe eating thing to! She will suck all of the "juice" out of it and I cringe because I'm sure that is not good for her. But, like you, I give it to her as a bribe for her to be good and do what I want her to! She also obsessively wipes her face with them...I mean to the point she will rub her face raw! We have to really limit the wipes she can have because of it, well and because I don't want her to drink all of that stuff that's in them. Anyway- I have your blog bookmarked and will try to post responses as much as possible! I hope you are having a great Mother's Day!

So I thought I would catch

by April

So I thought I would catch up on the blogging and I found your blog through Renay. I am amazed at how many people do this. I'm April by the way! Im new to the church so I guess you might not know who I am. Ok... so dont I feel stupid now.

The pictures of Ruby are too cute and my oldest son had a major obsession with eating wipes too. He would suck the juice right out of them. Not healthy I'm sure, but I have gotten those looks too! :)

Hope you've had a wonderful Mothers Day!!!

What a stinkin cute post!!! Yep, I concur that overall, bangs are the way to go. HOWEVER, I do think that Ruby looks adorable with the pigtails (even without the bangs)-- I think that I might be biased though, because I think Ruby is adorable all the time.

I seriously love her so much. I am in awe of just how much love I have for her (and you)! It melts my heart watching the girls play together. Maybe you could send some "fairy hair dust" our direction. Parker's is taking it's dear sweet time! Ugh!!! :)

I'll second a yes to Rubys

by Jessica

I'll second a yes to Rubys pigtails. She looked so cute in them. I have to mention Sun. after church I took such delight in seeing her take some steps from Mike to you. Adorable!!!
