Ruby and Burke had well visits today at the pediatrician's office. Our appointment was with the new nurse practitioner, Noel. We liked her a lot! :)
Ruby is 25 months and some odd days old. She is 33 inches tall, and she weighs 27 lbs. 11 oz. Her head is 48 cm in circumference. She's totally caught up to her own age bracket in everything but height. Chances are simply that she's just going to be a bit on the shorter side. No surprise there, considering her genes. :) Ruby is doing all of her major milestones very well. I told Nurse Noel that I'm planning to wait to potty train until Ruby is showing all of the readiness signs. I'm guessing it'll be about another month or so.
Burke is five months, one week, and a few days old. He is 23 inches tall, and he weighs 14 lbs. 11 oz. His head is 42 cm in circumference. He is not caught up in most areas. His weight is totally average, but everything else is still a bit behind. No biggie...if we use his adjusted age, he's still only three months old. He's still a little behind even for three months, but he'll even out in time, I'm sure. He's off the charts on the low side for height, so I'm praying that it's just because he's not caught up from his early arrival yet. :) Of course, genes aren't on his side either. Burke won't be starting solids for at least another six weeks for several reasons, including the fact that I don't like to start solids before six months, he's still only 3 months adjusted, and his sibling has a severe food allergy. Not to mention, he's gaining weight wonderfully just on breastmilk at this time.
Burke still hasn't been circumsized due to several odd happenings. Now that he's bigger and older, a urologist will be responsible for the circ. Since he'll have to be put under general anesthesia, I'm going to call Riley to see if there's any way that his circ can be done while he's under anesthesia for his neck surgery. If it's possible, then Arnett Peds will simply refer us to Riley urology for the circ. Otherwise, a urologist here in Lafayette will do the circ. Please pray that Riley will be willing and able to coordinate the two surgeries, so that Burke only has to go under anesthesia one time. Thank you!
All in all, the kids are great and healthy, and I am a thankful, thankful momma! Tomorrow I'll be posting about the super fun Mickey Party we had last week. I've just got to wait for Mike to blur some pictures for me this evening! :) Have a great evening, everyone!
