Seriously Random

I love "Lie to Me."  It's a good show, and I'm a sucker for an accent.  :)  On a much-related note, I love Hulu.  "Lie to Me" airs while I'm at church, so Hulu is the way I get my fix.  :)  And I happen to be watching the show while I compose this post.

My head is running in about a thousand different directions, so I'll beg your forgiveness for its crazy nature.  I've been staying at Mom and Dad's house for three weeks, helping Mom recover from pancreatic surgery.  (This task is MUCH more daunting than it sounds, since part of the recovery process is RESTING.  If you know my mom, then you know that she's really bad at RESTING.  I don't like being the RESTING police, but a daughter's gotta do what a daughter's gotta do, right?)

Anyway, I just got back in town on Friday "for good," and I have at least two dozen things that need to be started and/or completed ASAP.  Not the least of which is tagging/pricing all the junk in our garage for a garage/yard sale that I hope to have on Saturday.  (Yes, as in five days from now.)  I am *SERIOUSLY* considering the idea of a Dollar Tree Garage Sale.  I will put everything out on a bunch of tables with a big sign that says, "Everything's a dollar!"  If I get down to the wire, that's exactly what I'm going to do, and I'm not kidding in the slightest.  I want this junk off of my property!  (But a lot of that "junk" is valuable like my Pampered Chef pieces, Chicco Keyfit Travel System, couch, and futon, and I wouldn't mind getting a bit of the value back.)

Kyle (my brother) and I are also in charge of an informal program for our church this summer called "The Backyard."  Every Wednesday night this summer, we're going to fire up the grill, slice the watermelon, put up the volleyball net, and set out the football in Elston's huge backyard.  Then, we're inviting family and friends out to play.  Traditionally, Elston suspends Wednesday night activities during the summer to give everyone a break.  "The Backyard" will be an easy-going, informal way for everyone to get together, have fun, and stay in touch this summer without anyone getting stressed.  More details to come!  (Especially if you're an Elston Family member.)

I've also accepted the Communications position for my local MOPS group, and we've got some GREAT ideas for the upcoming year.  I have several things that I need to start getting prepared for this summer's outreach efforts. I was just informed tonight that the group needs flyers for a VBS program that will be happening the first week of June.  Yikes!  Gotta get right on that.

I've also got a couple of projects that I'm working on for Randy, and they are giving me one huge migraine.  I've got major writer's block (I know!), and I can't seem to get around it.  I've tried everything...

I'm also trying to figure out our summer plans.  We're attending two conferences (Mike is going to a church media conference, and I'm going to a speaking/writing conference), plus we're going to Disney sometime in September.  I need to get all the travel arrangements worked out and all the reservations made.

Those are just a few of the things on my mind.  I also need to upload pictures from Mother's Day (that I took with my new point-n-shoot camera!!), and recap the weekend.  It was my best Mother's Day so far.  :)

For now, however, I'm packing the kids and I up (again) to head back to Terre Haute.  My mom's step-dad died on Sunday afternoon, and the funeral is on Wednesday.  We'll be back in Lafayette sometime Wednesday night, probably late.  I hate it that I have to miss another Heart to Heart meeting, but I don't have a choice.  I really wish it could be different.  I miss all of the H2H ladies like crazy, especially now that FPU is finished, and I haven't seen any of you in three weeks.  I just have to trust that this didn't surprise or frustrate God, even though it might have done that to me.  Pray that I will look for what He wants me to do in the next few days and that my priority list would be identical to His priority list.

Hopefully I'll get a Mother's Day post up tomorrow, since I was super domestic today and got the majority of the housework completed.  :)  I hope you have a wonderfully blessed day today!  See you soon!
