My Utmost for His Highest

For the last few weeks and months we were not as close to God as we should have been. However, we have recently experienced somewhat of a “revival” of our faith, and it has been really refreshing and encouraging. Aside from the great people we’ve met at our new church, we have been learning a lot from our daily devotional, My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers. This book has been a popular daily devotional for decades, and we thought we would give it a try. The language is rather dated, but Chambers’ insight and wisdom have been a great source of spiritual growth for us in recent weeks. I think that I will try to post what we have learned on a daily basis. I will also put a link to an online verion of My Utmost for His Highest in the list of links on the right side of our blog homepage so that our loyal readers ( : can also have access to Chambers’ writings. Again, the language is difficult to get through at first, but you will certainly be challenged in your faith!

Today’s devotion was entirely about prayer. It challenged us to have prayer lives that are so passionate, intimate, and strong that they could be mistaken for Jesus’. It’s really easy to be selfish in our prayers, but our conversations with God should be so much more than a quick “wish list” and Amen.
