Who is "us"?

The blog title, "Not to Us", is taken from a bible verse, Psalm 115:1.  It says, "Not to us, O Lord, but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness."

We are an average Midwestern American family of four.  Mike holds a Master's Degree from Purdue University in Analytical Chemistry, and he currently works for Griffin Analytical Technologies.  Lindsay stays home and has recently found a love of blogging.  Ruby is a very talkative little toddler, who made quite a grand entrance into this world. Burke is our newest member, who also chose to make a rather dramatic appearance on his birthday.

We started blogging nearly four years ago, when we got married, as a means of keeping our long-distance family updated on a regular basis.  These days, you'll probably find a lot of family rambling with a few sprinkles about our more intellectual (or entertaining!) thoughts and musings.  Above all, we hope you find joy and encouragement within these pages.

Most recently, we have blogged extensively about our journey with Burke's pregnancy.  At 17 weeks, Lindsay's water broke, and we were told that we had a very slim chance (less than 1%) of carrying Burke to an age when he would have any possibility of survival.  She was put on strict bedrest, and, each week, we were amazed to find that the water kept repleneshing itself.  Burke was thriving, and we were thankful

At a routine 32-week ultrasound (after fifteen weeks of perfect ultrasounds), we unexpectedly discovered that Burke had a very irregular and dangerous heartbeat.  Lindsay was rushed into an emergency c-section, and Burke was born barely an hour after the ultrasound had original started, just seconds after his Daddy arrived in the operating room.  He's currently in the Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit.  He's got very premature lungs, and it will be a while before he can come home.  However, we're simply over the moon just to have him here safely!!  We have already witnessed miracles in this situation, and we know that, no matter the outcome, we serve a very powerful and loving God who is completely in control of our situation.  When all else looks grim, that is our hope and joy!

Our family has been blessed beyond measure by a God who seeks to have a relationship with all people.  We are incredibly thankful, and our sincerest hope is that you would know God and be blessed as well.  We can always be contacted using the contact link at the top of the site.

Thank you for your support and prayers during this time in our lives.  We love having company on this journey called Life!
