Jennie's Grandma's Chocolate Chip Cookies

Smile A member of my pregnancy message board posted this recipe.  I always fail at making good, soft, chewy chocolate chip cookies, but these turned out perfect! Smile

1/2 c. butter (at room-temperature)

1/2 c. Crisco shortening

3/4 c. brown sugar

3/4 c. white sugar

2 eggs

1 t. baking soda mixed in 1 tsp. hot water

1 t. vanilla

1 t. salt

2 1/4 c. flour

1 bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips

Preheat your oven to 325 degrees Farenheit.

Mix together the butter, Crisco, and sugars.  Blend these ingredients until they are completely evenly dispersed and the mixture is light and fluffy.

Add the eggs one at a time.  Again, make sure you mix them in very well and get plenty of air into the mixture.

Add the soda/water mixture and the vanilla.

Mix together the flour and salt, then add to the wet ingredients a little bit at a time.

Add the chocolate chips.  (You could probably also add nuts, if you preferred.)

Drop the cookies by spoonful onto a baking sheet.  Bake at 325 for 9-10 minutes until golden brown.

Yummy yummy yummy!!
