Losers - Chili

  • 1.5 lbs. lean ground beef
  • 1 lg. onion, finely chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (28 oz.) can of whole, peeled tomoatoes, cut into bite-size pieces
  • 1 (28 oz.) can of tomato sauce
  • 1/2 t. celery seed
  • 1/4 t. ground red pepper
  • 1 t. cumin
  • 1 small bay leaf
  • 2 T. chili powder
  • 1/8 t. basil
  • 1 1/2 t. salt
  • 1/2 t. pepper

Saute onions, green peppers, and garlic until the onions begin to soften.  Add ground beef and thoroughly brown the meat.

In large pot, combine beef mixture, tomatoes, and spices.  Stir to mix well.  Heat to boiling, then lower heat and simmer for 15 minutes, stirring frequently.

This recipe makes 8 servings.  Each serving is roughly 1 1/4 c.  I don't know the exact calories, but I know that each serving is around 200 calories.
