Mrs. Sigg's Snickerdoodles

  • 1/2 c. butter, room temp
  • 1/2 c. shortening, room temp
  • 1 1/2 c. white sugar
  • 2 eggs, room temp
  • 2 t. vanilla extract
  • 2 3/4 c. all purpose flour
  • 2 t. cream of tartar
  • 1 t. baking soda
  • 2 T. white sugar
  • 2 t. ground cinnamon
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Cream together butter, shortening, 1 1/2 cups sugar, the eggs and the vanilla. Blend in the flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt. Shape dough by rounded spoonfuls into balls.
  3. Mix the 2 tablespoons sugar and the cinnamon. Roll balls of dough in mixture. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.
  4. Bake 8-9 minutes and allow to cool/set on cookie sheet for 1 or 2 minutes. Move to a cooling rack to continue cooling and setting.
